Here at Larry H. Miller Dodge RAM Avondale, we know firsthand how thrilling of a car the Dodge Challenger is. Carrying on the manufacturer's iconic tradition of American muscle cars, the Challenger is a worthy descendant of classic Dodge muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. But Dodge is planning even bigger things for the model, and today we are very excited to share those plans with you.

In May of this year SRT boss Ralph Gilles confirmed that hardcore version of the Challenger was in the works. We've also learned that Hellcat Supercharged HEMI V-8 will be included in that model. This version of Chrysler's classic HEMI V-8, which is affectionately called the Hellcat, is being billed as the answer to Chevrolet's new Camaro Z.

This epic new Dodge engine will crank out an unbelievable 640 horsepower from its 6.2-liter HEMI block, and will feature a few altered design cues to help cope with that massive amount of horses under the hood. There will likely be a larger, lower front air-intake design to help cool the engine, and the mufflers at the rear of the car will likely have to be replaced as well.

We are also hoping for some suspension upgrades, as well as some weight-saving modifications because the competition between top-of-the-line models from the various manufacturers on timing tracks is fiercer than ever before.

This SRT Challenger is still only in the testing phase, but come by our Avondale, AZ showroom soon and find out what makes other new Dodge models so exciting as well.
