We have really exciting news to report here for our Avondale, AZ area pickup truck fans, as our RAM manufacturer has made the decision to return diesel technology to their already-excellent RAM 1500 pickups, and honestly, we expect other truck makers will follow suit in the coming years.
What exactly is the appeal of diesel engines for pickup trucks? Well, with the right type of engine technology, diesel can be incredibly fuel efficient. Basically, it's worth it for the drivers of almost any model with proper diesel technology to utilize it, as you will save tons of money in the long term over traditional gasoline.
Big improvements have been made to diesel technology over the past decade or so. For example the 3-liter V-6 RAM diesel engine to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that will work brilliantly to optimize efficiency.
RAM President Reid Bigland said this recently at an event in Los Angeles to debut the new RAM diesel engines, "The name of the game is making larger vehicles more relevant. You make them more relevant by making them more fuel efficient."1
And while the traditionally-fueled RAM 1500 model gains a segment-solid 22 miles per gallon highway, the diesel engine will expectedly produce quite a bit more value than that for drivers. We'll be sure to keep you posted as more information about these exciting models becomes available.
