Looking Forward to the 2017 and 2018 Dodge Durango SRT8

Dodge is known for producing great vehicles and the 2017 model year will be no exception! 2017 will see the release of a new sportier, more stylish edition of the Dodge Durango, called the SRT8.

With a radical makeover (both inside, and out) planned for 2017 and additional changes in 2018, the Dodge Durango SRT8 looks to be another great, affordable high-performance SUV offering from Dodge!

Redesigned, Inside and Out For 2017

This new model will touch on all the high points for lovers of SUVs. The high-performance Dodge Durango SRT8 is slightly bigger than past models and the exterior has had a complete makeover including a stronger design style in front with a newly designed fascia that includes extensive venting. This may be for aerodynamics, cooling purposes, or possibly fog lights or even all of the above – as Dodge has yet to reveal the final design specs.

Along with the new front end, the Dodge Durango SRT8 will ride on sportier wheels, have a more aggressive hood, and athletic body panels.

Under the hood, Dodge is reportedly going to use a capable 5.7 liter V8 that will deliver 345 Horsepower using a multi relocation framework matched with a 5-speed gearbox.

Estimated gas mileage will be around 15-18 miles per gallon. This is the third-generation Durango and will be the first to sport uni-body construction. The first two generations being body-on-frame trucks.

Looking Ahead To 2018

The SRT8 model will continue to evolve in 2018. While this is still speculation at this point, the 2018 model will reportedly feature the Grand Cherokee SRT V8 engine. It’s a 6.4 liter, 392 cubic inch engine with better specs than the Hellcat Hemi.

Still in the Hemi series, it’s capable of putting out more power with the 392 producing 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. While Dodge hasn’t confirmed the power train, if this is the engine they do use, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT8 will become one of the fastest SUVs in the US. It will include an 8-speed automatic transmission and Brembo brakes.

While the final release date and specs have yet to be announced, the current model is still undergoing testing and screening. Regardless of what the final engine choice will be, the redesigned 2017 Dodge Durango SRT8 promises to be another great high-performance SUV offering from Dodge!
